Each day we wake up, perform the daily routine activities, head towards work. As we sit down at our workplace table, we see yesterday’s emails and emails pop-in, back-to-back meetings and soon the day gets over. We get surprised how fast the day is over and that’s how days, weeks, and years pass.
Some point in time, we ask, ‘Why am I doing this?’ and then we get the answer, to pay my bills, food on the table, fulfill my desires of shopping, vacations.
As per the statistics, 90% of people dislike their job and job environment. It’s the monotonous routine that makes people less productive, dissolves their passion, starts seeing the health issues and then the stress creeps in.
Few leave jobs and try to start something of their own, take a sabbatical or try to live the offbeat lifestyle (Mid-Life Crisis) though the question is Does this really help?
We know 95% of entrepreneurs ventures fail, those who take a sabbatical or leave job many a time repent on the decision taken and those who are still in the job are in withdrawal and isolation state. They are not as productive as they are in Stress.
So what is needed? What is the Magic Pill?
Well, I was in a similar state a few years ago. All these thoughts of taking a sabbatical from a job, leaving a job, and start ‘something of my own’ came to my mind. Also, for a long time, I was in the withdrawal state in my job.
Then one fine day, I sat and started speaking to myself. I told myself that this will not work and I have to make a few changes. I made a list of the things I like the most.
One of the prominent thing that came to my mind was to write a book. I always wanted to write a book. Per the statistics, 80% of the people like to write a book, though less than 0.5% are successful.
Now, I needed to pursue my passion. Right then, Mind started giving the objections as that’s mind’s role. Few Objections viz. Do you really have time? Do you really have depth in writing? Are you good enough? And more…
Well, my biggest objection was time, and I needed to create time without changing my routine.
I was not in a hurry and wanted to pursue my passion. I started waking up 30 minutes early. Instead of sleeping for 8 hours, I started sleeping for 7.5 hours and realized that I created 30 minutes extra time.
I didn’t change my routine. My office hours, my family time, my Netflix time all was necessary though, 30 mins writing time was the addition in 24 hours day cycle.
Just the slight change in my routine .i.e. working on my passion project took all the stress out. I have spent the best of my time already in the morning and I feel good, motivated the entire day.
This has made me successful in my job as well and whatever I have been pursuing. Today prominent companies like Google Microsoft, other companies also understand this. Employees get a few hours in their regular working hours where they can work on their passion project. This works for both parties as companies will get productive employees and employees will feel happy too.
I didn’t make the big changes viz. Leaving a job or Sabbatical. Just a little tweak in my routine rejuvenated me and today I am doing the best in my job. Also, already the Author of two Best-Selling books and Author Coach. I am helping 1000+ people becoming Authors. All this by spending 30 mins. In a day, working on my passion project.
